Tools that move you

Support your practice at home with a few helpful tools. While you may adapt many of these items from around your house, I have included some of my favourites here.

  • The most valuable information to share about bolsters, blocks & straps is that you don’t have to look much further than your own home. Without spending a dime, you can effectively use folded thick blankets or the dense cushions off of your couch instead of a bolster. A few thick books will support your practice much like a yoga block. And, the belt off of your bathrobe makes a great strap! I

    f you would like to invest in special equipment however, these tools are widely available at your local pharmacy, grocery and online.

  • From calf stretching and myofascial release to balance practice and so much more. These tools get a lot of mileage. Our EVA half-cylinders at Elphinstone Moves are from Clinic Supplies Canada.

  • Balls of all sizes and densities can be used to improve your function - all the way from your little toe tips to the muscles in your face your skull. Here are some of our favourite products:

  • Sandbags are a fantastic tool for building strength for your whole body. Versatile and easy to use, sandbags come in few shapes and styles. We recommend bags without handles as they will provide what is often an underused grip option. Without spending too much money you can make your own sandbag. We use StrongFit Equipment’s classic sandbag and it is designed to take a beating.

  • Toe spacers vary in shape, size, application and are an excellent tool to support your whole-body health. Consistent use provides healthy passive movement in your far away parts. You don’t have to do anything but wear them to benefit! Varying the position of your toes over time can improve circulation, function and balance. Following are my favourites but, by no means, the only products on the market
